Illegal waste activity costs the UK economy around £600 million every year. If you handle, dispose of, move, deal or broker waste you have a duty of care to make sure you do not cause damage to human health or the environment.

Each of the four UK nations has its own rules on how to comply with duty of care requirements. However, the core message is the same. You must make sure that waste is handled and recycled or disposed of properly without causing harm.
